# Product discounts for products, variants, and collections

> Set percentage or fixed savings for selected merchandise, cap percentage discounts, and keep condition scope separate from discount scope.

Product discounts reduce the price of eligible cart merchandise. Choose all products, specific products, variants, or collections without enrolling the whole store.

## Configure the rule

1. Click **添加折扣** (Add discount), then **商品折扣** (Product discount).
2. Choose **百分比** (Percentage) or **固定金额** (Fixed amount). Enter `10` for 10% off. Use **最高折扣金额（可选）** (Maximum discount amount) to cap percentage savings when needed.
3. Select the product scope and choose the actual products, variants, or collections. Changing the scope selector alone does not select resources.
4. Set customer eligibility, dates, and conditions. Save a draft, activate it, and test both eligible and out-of-scope items.

## Calculation example

Two selected items at 60 each total 120. With only this rule active, 10% off saves 12. A fixed discount of 15 reduces the selected merchandise amount by 15; it does not set its final price to 15.

At 50% off with a maximum discount of 15, merchandise totaling 120 receives only 15 off. Add a separate [shipping rule](https://discount.xrtotech.com/en/features/shipping-discount.md) for delivery savings.

## Configure scope and conditions separately

For a VIP-only collection discount, add the customer tag in [conditions](https://discount.xrtotech.com/en/settings/conditions.md) and select the collection in this product rule. If a quantity threshold should count only that collection, select it separately in the condition.
